A LITTLE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF TESTIMONY…
As Catholics, we don’t talk much about giving testimonies. These days, they are generally not part of our tradition like they once were. By testimony, we simply mean ‘our story’.
Telling our story is NOT to bring us glory but to be a witness to what God is doing in our lives so that the faith of those who listen to us may be built up. We are bragging about Jesus!
The word 'testimony’ comes from the Hebrew 'Aydooth' which means 'do it again with the same power and authority.’ Every time we give testimony we are saying “Lord, 'do it again' with the same power and authority.”
You may have heard of the scripture from Revelation 19:10 which tells us,
“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
The power of a testimony has the ability to drive future miracles in the lives of others - just as Jesus did through His life’s story - His testimony. By sharing our testimony, we make sure that we don’t forget what God has done for us. We create a firm memory - a Memory Stone - of God’s goodness which is a great encouragement for others.
“If you have a message of encouragement for the people, please speak” (Acts 13:15).
I attended a healing service in Lincoln in September and I heard the call that if you were worried about a right eye problem to put your hand up. (I'd had a long drive to Lincoln and was concerned about a large floater in my right eye which was noticeably intrusive, bigger and blacker than before because I'd had a torn retina in the past and have small floaters). I put my hand up and just put my trust in the power of prayer. The ministry team prayed over me - a powerful experience.
After the service, I realised the floater was no longer intrusive and I knew I had experienced something wonderful. I drove home with a smile on my face. It remains healed.
